The advantage of Minoxidil sulfate compared to basic Minoxidil (e.g "Kirkland") is that Minoxidil is a stable though inactive component.
Inside the hair follicle Minoxidil does not work directly. It has to be converted into a more active derivative before it can stimulate hair growth. That derivative is Minoxidil sulfate.
The conversion of Minoxidil to Minoxidil sulfate occurs via the enzyme sulfotransferase which is located in the cells of the hair follicle.
It has been discovered there are individual differences in the level of sulfotransferase between patients.
Those who responded best to the use of Minoxidil had a higher level of sulfotransferase activity in the skin.
In patients who did not respond to treatment there was minimal sulfo transferase activity.

When 5-AR reacts with testosterone it is converted into dihydrotestosterone which then binds to receptors on the scalp and follicles sending false signals to the functioning cells responsible for proper hair growth.
Degradation of the follicles is the main cause of baldness. Azelaic acid also has the ability to normalize the abnormal growth of skin cells.
 
 
Adenosine: a powerful hair growth stimulant. Adenosine is an endogenous nucleoside 
present in all cells of the body.
Included in the structure of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is involved in all metabolic processes and is the source of energy for cells. Adenosine  stimulates hair growth by influencing hair growth factors. It stimulates fibroblast growth factor-7 (FGF-7) and endothelial vascular factor (VEGF). For the first time the effectiveness of adenosine, patent pending, was published at the 11th annual conference of the Organization for the Study of Hair Growth in late 2003 and caused quite a commotion in the scientific community.
In October 2004, the Ministry of Health of Japan officially confirmed the high effectiveness of adenosine in preparations for the treatment of alopecia.
The mechanism of vasodilator action is associated with an increase in conduction for K+.
Adenosine is also a potent vasodilator surpressing cAM-induced entry of Ca2+ into the cell. This effect makes it similar to minoxidil, the strongest known stimulator of hair growth.
